FAQ'S

IS South dakota network AN INVITE-ONLY AAU CLUB?

No.  South Dakota Network does invite players to be on teams, but we do encourage families to contact the club if interested in being evaluated for being on a team.  Also, during the month of August & March, we have scheduled workouts that we use to evaluate potential players.  If interested in being on a team, contact us admin@sdnetworkbasketball.com

When do teams practice?

The club has scheduled practices for all the teams 4th through 11th grade.   We do this for a number of reasons.  First, this allows us to maximize the number of practices during the season.  Second, our group practices allow teams to scrimmage one another.  This is extremely beneficial because it allows our younger teams to go against older teams and gives teams a variety of opponents to scrimmage.

ARE THERE OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY ON AN OLDER TEAM?

Absolutely!  We place kids at the appropriate level to challenge them and help achieve their basketball goals.

WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF South Dakota Network PRACTICES?

Our coaches are required to spend at least half of their practice developing the skills of their players.  The skills we are talking about include ball-handling, shooting, moving off the ball, passing, and defensive principles. South Dakota Network Basketball is a BIG advocate of positionless basketball.  Our goal for all players to be skilled in all facets of the game. The focus isn’t on learning plays BUT learning how to play.  Coaches also devote time during practice to teach the fundamentals of person-to-person defense. It’s important for our players to be able to defend hard in the half-court!
